We have capable students who come ready to work and learn each day. We have varying backgrounds, talents, and abilities which make us stronger as a group. We are working on becoming a collaborative team: working together, respectful of other's ideas, and compassionate of others. We participate in acts of community service to make this a better place to learn and grow. We hope to foster on-going curious natures and a continuing love of learning.
Fifth grade is a wonderful year at our school with many special responsibilities and privileges. We perform concerts, make movies, have a school musical, and have a 5th grade talent show. We have a Science Olympiad Team and a Reading Bowl Team which compete with other schools. Individuals can compete in a Spelling Bee, a Geography Bee, Georgia Author's competition, and a Technology Fair. We help publish the school year book. We can be part of an elected Student Council. Find your spot and get to it! Try something to make you and us better.
My class is fortunate to participate in the Kids Need Mentors program. Our author-mentor is Dana Middleton who has published three books. Our goal is to encourage writing and reading at the highest levels of engagement. We meet via Teams and in person when she can travel to Georgia. Check out the dedicated page about our on-going relationship and commitment to our students. I am truly grateful for her ongoing commitment and her participation with CVES kids!
I hope you'll Look for ways to grow with us this year. There is some way for every one to be a part of our school community. It will be more challenging with our Remote Learning start. It's up to students and parents to help us stay dedicated and engaged. Communication is key! Parent partnerships and volunteerism is key to our success. Hold on to your hats! It will go by fast.
